The theme Closing The Gap: Indonesian Contemporary Art encapsulates the exhibition’s essential aim to strengthen and lengthen Australia’s connection with Indonesia and Asia. With a diverse collection of works on show, Indonesia’s current contemporary concerns are addressed by leading artists challenging current Australian views of contemporary Indonesia.
With sculpture, textile, painting and video, Closing the Gap: Indonesian Contemporary Art presents a fresh aesthetic to a dynamic country. With all the works available for sale this exhibition marks the first instance of contemporary Indonesian art from this period being made available for sale in Australia.
